The pre-release is intented for testing and preview purposes only. Not everything is working right now, but I'll give you the opportunity to take a look at the system and give me your thoughts, suggestions and also bug requests. You can download the prerelease in the "Download" section on the top. Right now you can create a working Samba fileshare. That's all!. The pre-release is based on:

  • Linux Kernel 2.6.33
  • Buildroot 2010.02
  • Monit service watchdog 5.0.3
  • Busybox 1.15.3
  • BRTFS-Tools "unstable-git"
  • Samba 3.4.6
  • Codeigniter 1.7.1 (PHP Framework for the frontend)

and vodoo stuff done by myself *joking*

Please write your problems/bugs/suggestions/thoughts to the appropriate section of the forum.

Update: The PulsarOS administration is completely web-based. You don't need a user login on the system. But if you like to take a look under the magic hat, please see this "post".

Update2: The installation documentation can be found under the link "documentation" ;-)

Your disk size should be at least 500MB to fit all the files on it.

Quoting Steve Walton:
the disk is 200MB

How big is your disk in Virtualbox? Chris had the same problems and said that he had misconfigured his Virtualbox instance. Can you check if your configuration is appropriate?

Quoting Steve Walton:
I have the same bug with Vbox, It installs but operating system is missing when rebooted. I checked with fdisk and it has been formatted linux, but thats as far as i got.

That's strange because I'm developing and testing under Virtualbox. Can you send me your settings for you virtual machine?

Can you also send me the type of the network cards of VMWare and Windows 7 Virtual PC. Seems that I have to add the network cards into the kernel.

THX

Quoting Chris:
Tested it with some virtualization tools:

Windows 7 Virtual PC - no luck, Networkcard not found
Virtualbox, Running, installs but after reboot missing operating system
VMware player - no luck, Networkcard not found

looking forward how this will develop

Could you possibly add Pulsar's root password to the post?
I can't login to have a look around.
